Mary Nicholson has resided in French Camp, CA since 2001. Mary has always been active in her community and was happy to join the French Camp McKinley Fire Prevention District in 2017. In 2020, Mary accepted the role as Board Chair. In addition to serving on the fire board, Mary currently serves on the Board of Director of Nation’s Finest, a national organization providing homes and shelter for Veterans at 33 different facilities, which includes mental wellness assistance and other services tailored to the veterans needs.
Learning is a passion for Mary. She is always discovering new opportunities to grow. Mary graduated from the UCLA (English, BA) and got her first job at KHJ-TV/KHJ-AM in Los Angeles. She worked as a Public Affairs Production Assistant. Mary channeled her focus in media sales and became Sales Assistant and Office Manager at KHJ-TV; Account Executive at broadcast companies KTLA-TV, KPRZ-AM/KIIS-FM and Sr. Executive at KDAY-AM, where she advanced to management. After serving as Local Sales Manager at KDAY-AM, Mary advanced to General Sales Manager at KACE-FM, founded a specialized marketing firm, ProUnity Communications, Inc and became Owner/General Manager of KQBR-FM (“The Breeze”, Sacramento, CA). It sounds like a hop and skip into ownership, but along the way, Mary overcame many challenges and beat the odds many have said. After deregulation of broadcast media ownership, most radio and tv stations were gobbled up by large companies. Mary pursued new media opportunities in broadcasting as a Regional Manager at a life-style marketing company, The Next Generation Network. Communications and disseminating information are parts of Mary’s passions and she finds ways to continue to do that today.
Mary is the Founding Director of Healings in Motion, Inc, a patient-centric agency focused on brain-health. Partnering with other agencies, including The Health Human Services/Department of Aging and Health Plan of San Joaquin, Healings in Motion produces educational programs and events serving the growing number of Family Caregivers. Mary uses her past experiences to help those who are underserved, as well survivors of stroke and other brain-related injuries. Most recently, Mary launched a new company, “Caregivers for a Graying America”. According to Mary, “baby boomers have become seniors and will or do need more care; we work with millennials preparing them to care for their aging parents”.
Mary is a Sr. Fellow of the American Leadership Forum/Great Valley Chapter. She graduated from the Hilton School Professionally Certified Health Coaching.
